Official boundary — Inglewood (2003-12-01)
Context Type: boundary
Inglewood is a charming neighbourhood with roots dating back to a 1905 subdivision plan, experiencing growth primarily after World War II.
Inglewood, officially recognized since December 1, 2003, boasts a rich history that began with its designation on a 1905 plan of subdivision. Originally known as West Inglewood, the area saw significant development following World War II, thanks in part to the extension of the electric streetcar, which facilitated low-density residential growth.
The neighbourhood's early development was influenced by landowners J. Norris Sr. and R. Logan, who owned the area in 1882. Inglewood was annexed to the City of Edmonton in two stages, first in 1904 and again in 1920. For many years, residents utilized the Westmount Community Hall from 1910 to 1950 before establishing their own community hall, further solidifying Inglewood's sense of community.
