Official boundary — Rossdale (1981-10-01)

Context Type: boundary

Rossdale, one of Edmonton's oldest neighbourhoods, is rich in history and recreational spaces.

Established as one of Edmonton's oldest neighbourhoods, Rossdale dates back to 1802 when it was home to two fur trading forts and served as a vital supply point during the Klondike Gold Rush. This historic area was once the site of the original exhibition grounds, a brewery, an ice house, a lumber yard, a power plant, and even a coal mine.

Today, much of Rossdale is dedicated to recreational space, and the neighbourhood features many homes that are between 50 and 75 years old. With over 85 percent of households consisting of one or more adults without children, Rossdale continues to be a vibrant community within the O-day'min ward, reflecting its rich heritage while embracing modern living.
